Marching Band
The Alief Taylor Marching Band is the most visible performing group in the Taylor band program. The band consists of members of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Percussion Class, and Color Guard. They perform at all Alief Taylor football games as well as several marching contests each fall. All Alief Taylor band and color guard members are required to be a part of the marching band.

Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premier concert performing ensemble in the Alief Taylor band program. The primary goal of the Wind Ensemble is to fine-tune students' musical skills through full band, small ensemble and solo performance. They perfom on all band concerts as well as several contests each year.

Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is the second concert performing ensemble of the Alief Taylor band program. The primary goal of the Symphonic Band is to improve students' musical skills through full band, small ensemble and solo performance. They perfom on all band concerts as well as several contests each year.

Concert Band
The Concert Band is third concert ensemble in the Alief Taylor band program.  The purpose of the Concert Band is to bolster what musical skills our students already have while continuing to equip them with the extra skills that are necessary to be a member of one of our performing concert ensembles.

Jazz Ensemble
The Alief Taylor Jazz Ensemble is one of the most visible performing groups in the band program. They perform on all band concerts as well as several jazz festivals each year. The focus of the ensemble is on big band performance as well as individual improvisation.

Percussion Class
The Alief Taylor Percussion Class provides a more in-depth approach to percussion instruction than most high school band classes.  Students in the Percussion Class will explore marching percussion, concert percussion, small percussion ensembles and winter drumline. All of these elements come together to give Alief Taylor percussion students a comprehensive look at percussion performance through rehearsals concerts and competitions.

All Taylor percussion students meet during one period each day.  During concert season, these students are split into two seperate groups to perorm with the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band.  Percussion students rehearse with their respective concert groups during weekly after-school rehearsals throughout concert season.

All Percussion Class students are required to be in the marching band.

Color Guard
The Alief Taylor Color Guard functions both as a part of the marching band, and as a seperate performing unit. During the fall, the Color Guard performs with the marching band at all football games and marching competitions. During the spring semester, the group performs at several winter color guard competitions.
